Perimenopause

Perimenopause is a term used to describe the symptoms created by normal hormone fluctuations that occur when women move closer to menopause.  There is a common misconception that menopausal symptoms do not begin until after women stop having a menstrual cycle. Menopausal type symptoms may begin earlier in some women, maybe in their 30's or 40's and these symptoms vary from woman, causing concern.

Some common symptoms of perimenopause may be:

  • Irregular bleeding

  • Heavier bleeding

  • Night sweats

  • Worsening PMS

  • Headaches

  • Abdominal weight gain

  • Anxiety

  • Insomnia

  • Vaginal dryness

  • Diminished sex drive

If you have not experienced the end of your menstrual cycle but are experiencing the early signs of menopause, please check with your Restorasis Integrative & Functional Medicine professional.  Hormone imbalance may be an important factor but poor diet, lack of exercise and stress may be contributing to your discomfort as well.  By performing the proper testing and taking a full-person approach to your health, we can look deeper into your health issues and resolve problems at the root cause.
