Hypertention

High blood pressure (hypertension) means that the pressure at which your arteries pump blood from your heart to the rest of your organs and throughout your body is too great.  This pressure puts stress on your heart and causes heart damage and premature death.  If your systolic blood pressure (when your heart pumps) is over 140 and your diastolic blood pressure (when your heart relaxes) is over 90, then you your blood pressure is too high.

Here are some common causes of hypertension:

  • Age

  • Excess Sodium

  • Obesity

  • Lack of Exercise

  • Drugs & Alcohol

  • Poor Diet

  • Smoking

  • Hormone Imbalances

  • Kidney Disease

The Restorasis Integrative & Functional Medicine approach for addressing hypertension is to break it down into three basic mechanisms:  inflammation, oxidative stress and immune response.  With comprehensive testing, the root cause of these three mechanisms can be uncovered then treated specifically and individually according to each patient's unique health conditions.
